Short answer - no.
We typically do not recommend putting liquids in your wooden vessels, as you run the risk of leaching and absorption.
Wooden vases are purely for dried matter, as their inner wall is not water-proof. Putting water into your vase will cause cracking and eventual rot. Keep it dry.
Wooden bowls can hold cool/room temp liquids for short periods of time. As an example: we use our medium size wooden bowls to hold cool water while doing sourdough flips. Liquids should never be stored in your wooden vessel for long periods of time.
We recommend sticking to dry foods in your bowls, dried herbs and spices in your boxes, and dried flowers in your vases.
Yes.
As long as your bowl is properly sealed, salad is suitable (and very enjoyable) to eat out of your wooden bowl. Salad is typically dressed with some sort of oil-based dressing, which means it will be naturally conditioning your bowl as you use it.
If your bowl is dry, you do run the risk of certain flavours 'sticking around' (think caesar salad...). If you are taking good care of your bowl and ensuring it's conditioned, then smells and scents shouldn't linger.
